Apply for the BCCIC’s Global Cooperation Awards

The British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC) is inviting nominations for its second Global Cooperation Awards! These awards aim to recognize exceptional contributions to international cooperation, to raise awareness about global issues, and to inspire British Columbians to create change. Nominees can include those within the international development sector and those from the public or private sectors.

After making their first appearance at BCCIC’s 20th Anniversary in 2009, the awards are in their second cycle.  There are 3 categories:

Global Citizens Initiative Award: For individuals 30 years of age and under or organizations working primarily with youth 30 and under who are trailblazers in international cooperation and towards mobilizing British Columbians to take action on international issues.

Global Citizens Leadership Award: For organizations or individuals 31 years of age and older who are outstanding role models of fighting for international social justice and engaging British Columbians on international issues.

Commitment to Global Cooperation Award: For individuals, groups, businesses, and organizations in the media, the public or private sectors who demonstrate their global vision through exceptional commitment to international cooperation.

Eligibility criteria, nomination forms, and further information may be found here or at www.bccic.ca. Deadline for submissions is 12:00 pm, Wednesday, August 29th, 2012. Submissions must to emailed to project@bccic.ca.

The awards will be presented at BCCIC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, September 28th, 2012 in Vancouver. Travel subsidies are available to support Kamloops award recipients.
