During this interactive free workshop for youth ages 13-18, participants will learn about global issues and hear from inspiring speakers from across Canada. Lunch will be provided. This event celebrates International Development Week which takes place from February 2nd to 8th, 2014, and is co-hosted with Rotaract Club of Kamloops Fusion.
Registration is recommended as space is limited; however, walk-ins are welcome the day of the event.
Educate, engage, & inspire:
Global documentaries are coming to the silver screen in February!
The Kamloops Global Awareness Network is bringing back the Kamloops Global Film Festival which will be taking place from February 6th to 8th, 2014.
This year the festival has expanded from two days to three, and we will be offering 15 dynamic and thought-provoking documentary films from all over the world. Click here to view the festival schedule and film descriptions.
In order to make this event a success, we are looking for a number of volunteers to help both before and during the festival. As an added bonus, all volunteers who donate a minimum of 4 hours of their time will receive two complementary festival passes. A written letter of participation can be provided upon request as well.
Volunteers are needed for the following positions:
- Postering 1-2 weeks prior to the festival in designated areas of Kamloops
- Ticket sellers during the screenings (required to be on site 30 minutes prior to the first film screening)
- Concession workers – includes operating a table top popcorn machine
- Projectionist – a basic training session is required prior to the festival
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact KGAN’s regional coordinator, Sarah Johnstone, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Note: emails sent between January 9th – 19th will be replied to after Monday, January 20th.
