The Kamloops Global Awareness Network is pleased to present the 1st annual Kamloops Global Film Festival in cooperation with Thompson Rivers University as part of TRU’s International Days. This film festival is co-sponsored by the World Community Development Education Society and features films from the Travelling World Community Film Festival. Admission is FREE, and everyone is welcome. All films have a G rating except for United States of America which is rated PG.

You’re invited to KGAN’s third International Development Drink networking event! Join us for a night of networking, socializing, and sharing at Frick and Frack Tap House on Wednesday, January 30th. This FREE event will run from 5pm – 8pm, and it provides an a fun, informal opportunity to connect with individuals and organizations who are interested in international development, social justice, and fair trade. This all-ages event is open to all members of the Kamloops community.

This time around, we will have speakers from World Neighbours Canada and the YMCA, along with plenty of FREE appetizers for those who arrive early. We will also be announcing the winners of our public engagement grants!

Call for speakers/table displays:
We are looking for organizations and individuals to speak for 2-5 minutes about their cause/event. There will be space for a table display or brochures as well. Please contact KGAN’s regional coordinator, Sarah Johnstone, at kamloopsglobalawareness@gmail.com or at 250-299-1282.

Deadline extended: $2400 grant funding available

Hands on world

We’ve extended the deadlines for our two public engagement grants. These grants provide funding for activities that create awareness about international development issues in the Kamloops/Thompson community. Applications are due before midnight onWednesday, January 23rd. All funding provided by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Two grants available:

  • Youth Global Change Makers Grant: This $1200 grant is available for youth groups between the ages of 11 to 18. There is also a video component to this grant. Click here for details.
